The Town of Brookhaven invites Brookhaven students grades K through 12, to create an original, informative and engaging 30 or 60 second public service announcement (PSA) that encourages recycling or litter prevention. Found principally on television and radio, a PSA is any non-commercial advertisement or announcement designed to raise awareness about specific public issues and promote information in service of community interests or government or non-profit programs. This contest is open to individuals, classrooms, school clubs and organizations in the Town of Brookhaven and must promote one of the following:

Creation and production of PSAs provide Brookhaven students with the opportunity to learn and understand the need to reduce waste, recycle and keep Brookhaven litter free. The video is also an opportunity for students to showcase their creativity and educate the community. The winning submissions will be used as part of the Town’s educational efforts to promote recycling and combat litter and excess waste.

Students can work as a team or as individuals to create their own PSA to submit to the Town of Brookhaven’s Department of Waste Management by the deadline.
