Mission Statement
In September 2008, the Help the Animals Fund, Inc. was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) charitable, not-for-profit organization. Its purpose is the prevention of cruelty to animals. In promoting this purpose, the Fund assists in the care, rehabilitation and adoption of animals with the intent of improving their lives in a manner that would not occur otherwise. In accomplishing this mission, an important function of the Fund is to provide medical care, including needed surgery, for stray, homeless or abandoned animals. In providing this care, the Fund has helped to reduce the incidence of euthanization, which would normally be the only possible action that the Animal Shelter of the Town of Brookhaven could take when encountering seriously injured or unhealthy animals. Additionally, the Fund will promote the diffusion of knowledge to, as well as the education of the citizens of the Town with regard to the prevention of cruelty to animals.
