Farmingville, NY – On June 10, Councilwoman Jane Bonner attended the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony at St. Francis Cabrini R. C. Church Parish Center in Coram to present Alexander DaPonte with a Certificate of Congratulations for earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Alex is a member of Boy Scout Troop 74 in Coram.

Councilwoman Bonner said, “I would like to congratulate Alex for completing his service project and obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout, as well as thank him for his great contribution to the community. Individuals like Alex are a true asset to the Town of Brookhaven and we will look to them to be our leaders of tomorrow.”

Alexander’s Eagle Scout Service Project, the construction of two “benchtables,” was completed with the assistance of fellow scouts from Troop 74. The "benchtables” are units that can be used as a park bench or converted into a picnic table with bench seat. They were built for volunteer workers and visitors of Hobbs Farm in Centereach. While at the farm Alexander and his troop cleaned up a compost area and placed tires around the playground. The “benchtables” were dedicated at Hobbs Farm on December 10, 2011.
