Farmingville, NY – Brookhaven Town Councilman Dan Panico put forward and received unanimous support from the Town Board at the June 12, 2012 town board meeting for his new legislation to amend the Town of Brookhaven’s employment policy and procedures “to require the consideration of honorably discharged military personnel first, for entry level labor, non tested and/or non competitive jobs.”
“We owe our veterans, especially returning veterans, all that we can do to help them transition back into civilian life and jobs are a big part of that transition,” commented Brookhaven Town Councilman Dan Panico, “I believe that our generation of elected leadership has a responsibility to our servicemen and women and if other levels of government, and more importantly private industry, made a concerted effort we could fulfill that responsibility.”
Councilman Panico wanted to provide opportunity to honorably discharged military personnel who have served the nation in protection of our rights who deserve and are entitled to preferred employment opportunity as a result of their service to this nation.
