Farmingville, NY – On June 8, Councilwoman Jane Bonner was present for the 2012 Relay for Life of Rocky Point held at Rocky Point High School. A Relay for Life is an over-night event sponsored by the American Cancer Society and consists of teams of participants who camp out and take turns walking around the track to raise money to fight cancer. 48 teams consisting of 411 participants took part in this year’s event, which raised over $100,000.

Councilwoman Bonner said, “It is inspiring to see so many of our residents show up to support this fantastic cause. As Long Islanders, we have all seen the devastating effects of cancer first hand. I am tremendously proud of the Rocky Point community for coming together and raising thousands of dollars to combat this terrible disease that has affected so many of our neighbors and family members.”
