Two $1000 scholarships awarded by the Sound Beach Civic Association.

Farmingville, NY – On June 11, Councilwoman Jane Bonner attended the Sound Beach Civic Association Meeting to present “Certificates of Congratulations” to Brendan O’Connell of Miller Place School District and Samantha Picciotti of Rocky Point School District for each receiving a $1000 scholarship. Brendan will attend Boston College’s Carroll School of Management and Samantha will attend St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue. Brendan is a Congressional Award recipient and has built bookshelves for the Woodward Children’s Center in Freeport, which assists disabled children. Samantha has made the Honor Roll from 2008 to 2012 and has taken part in numerous community services, including beach clean-ups and working with abused women in a local shelter.

Councilwoman Bonner said, “These scholarships are well deserved for the countless hours that Brendan and Samantha have dedicated to their school work and their service to the community. I congratulate both of them and I wish them the best as they move on to college.”
