Farmingville, NY - On November 18, Councilwoman Jane Bonner was on hand to observe and participate in an interactive learning experience with members of the Mount Sinai High School chapter of the Junior Achievement of New York’s High School for Heroes Program. Students in the program, which is supported by the National Grid Foundation, volunteer to teach basic money management skills to local elementary school students. They receive valuable lessons in basic economic literacy and the importance of staying in school while they learn to connect success in school with greater earning potential later on in life. At the event, Councilwoman Bonner presented the students with certificates of appreciation from the Town of Brookhaven.

“These outstanding students volunteer their time and serve as role models to the younger students that they mentor as well as their peers,” said Councilwoman Bonner. “I commend the important work that they do and thank National Grid and Junior Achievement for making this program available to the Mount Sinai students.”
